Labour's plans to sell off St Helen's House has provoked strong reactions from local residents who want to save our heritage
Local Liberal Democrat campaigner, Wendy Harbon, has launched a petition to save St Helen's House. This follows last night's decision by Derby City Council's Labour Cabinet to approve selling off the historic building.
Wendy Harbon said; "People all over Derby are fuming at Labour's plans to sell off St Helen's House. It is an important part of Derby's Heritage.
"I am sure we will get a good response to this petition and this, added to other petitions on the issue, will add to the pressure on the Council to change its mind".
Leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Derby City Council Hilary Jones said; "We Liberal Democrat Councillors will be fighting tooth and nail to stop the sell off of St Helen's House.
"We should not be selling off such a great asset, I hope as many local people as possible will sign the petition to demonstrate to the Labour Council the strength of local people's opposition to the sell-off".
If people want copies of the petition they can call 01332 298934.
