Residents in some Derby flats are having their quality of life blighted by enormous, overgrowing trees. Residents living in St Claire's Close and St Swithin's Close are having the light blocked from their flats by the branches of some overgrown trees.
Cllr Bryan Lowe and local campaigner Deirdre Mitchell have spoken to a number of residents about the problem and are determined to see action taken. Deirdre Mitchell said "Many of the residents have told me that the trees have made their lives a misery. The branches are virtually covering some people's front windows and the light and heat has been blocked from their flats. Other people are concerned because the trees make it darker outside the flats at night".
Cllr Bryan Lowe has written to the Council's Arboriculture officers to get the branches cut back. Cllr Lowe said "If action isn't taken soon to trim these trees back I will go to the next Area Panel and try and get something done about it that way".
If you are having similar problems with overgrowing trees, contact your local Lib Dem councillors or campaigners.
