Campaigners say "Stop this traffic chaos"

December 5, 2005 12:00 AM

The traffic on Normanton Road has been a concern to many people in the area for some time. Local Liberal Democrat campaigner, Joe Naitta, is now calling for action to deal with the problem. Joe said "Every day local people grumble about the traffic on Normanton Road. The situation is beyond a joke. Anybody who drives or walks down the road can see there is a serious problem. It should be possible to keep traffic moving and make it easier for pedestrians."

Joe, along with fellow local Lib Dem campaigners, David Batey and Rehmat Khan, has launched a petition calling for solutions to the problems on Normanton Road. These solutions should include proper enforcement of double yellow lines and getting rid of "A" boards and other unnecessary signs on the pavements, which would make it easier for pedestrians.

Joe continued, "This traffic chaos in Normanton Road has got to stop. It's a big headache for many people from all over Derby, hopefully my petition and campaign will prompt the council to take action over this."

Copies of the Normanton Road petition can be obtained by calling Joe on 07850 034838
