Lib Dems make big gains in Council elections

Derby Liberal Democrats had their most successful election night ever last night. The Lib Dems won 7 wards across Derby. They gained four seats, Abbey from Independent and Darley, Arboretum and Alvaston from Labour.
Hilary Jones Lib Dem leader said "This is a really great night for Derby Lib Dems. We have won seats like Alvaston where people never expected us to win
"We have won seats in the Labour heartlands which shows just how unpopular Labour are. The Conservatives won just three seats losing a seat they were defending. The results just confirm the Conservatives are the third party in Derby and are out of the race."
