The government refuses to pay back the hundreds of thousands of pounds Derbyshire Police spent on preparing for the failed police mergers.
At the full Council meeting on 22nd November, Derby's Liberal Democrat group will be presenting a motion calling on the government to repay money to Derbyshire Police.
The motion calls on the government to return the more than a quarter of a million pounds Derbyshire Police spent on preparing for the government's police merger plan.
Councillor Hilary Jones said "We have heard recently from David Coleman, the Head of Derbyshire Police, how a lack of government funding could lead to cuts in frontline police services.
"Local people rightly want to see more police, not less, on the streets in Derby. The government should give our police force the money it needs to put more Bobbies on the beat.
"The very least the government can do is pay back the money our Police spent preparing for the police mergers.
"I hope Councillors of all parties unite on Wednesday to support our motion and tell the government to "give Derbyshire Police their money back"."
