Derby Liberal Democrats AGM was a success as members looked forward to even more progress next year
A packed Annual General Meeting of Derby Liberal Democrats held yesterday heard how the party was on track to make even further progress in Derby. Guest speaker at the meeting was Cllr Stuart Bray, the East Midlands Liberal Democrat Campaign Manager.
Cllr Bray told the meeting that boundary changes in the new Derby North meant there was a real chance of their being a Lib Dem MP in Derby after the next General Election. Cllr Bray said "In this year's local elections Derby Liberal Democrats had their best ever election result. The Lib Dems gained four seats and finished equal first with Labour across Derby.
"The local election results show there is a real chance that the Liberal Democrats could gain an MP in Derby at the next election. According to the Electoral Reform Society, in this year's local elections the Liberal Democrats finished first in the new Derby North."
