Derby Lib Dems will be providing strong opposition to Derby's failing Labour/Conservative alliance
Derby Liberal Democrats have elected a new Chairman, David Batey.
David Batey said "I will be using my time as chairman to make 2007 a successful year for Derby Liberal Democrats. In 2006 Derby Lib Dems had their best election results ever, finishing equal first with Labour across Derby. With people getting tired of a Labour/Conservative alliance that is costing them more but delivering them less, we have a real opportunity to make even more progress across the city."
Hilary Jones leader of Derby Lib Dem Councillors said "David is a talented young man who will bring a determined and fresh approach. This year will be a vital one for Derby with important local elections. I am sure with David as chairman we will have an even more professional organization, able to provide real opposition to Derby's ruling Labour/Conservative alliance."
David Batey has also been selected to stand for the Liberal Democrats in Chaddesden ward.
