Lib Dems take the fight to Labour's heartlands

Abdul Majid shows how dumped rubbish is littering Normanton's streets

Labour voters in Derby are switching to the Lib Dems, because of the Labour/Tory alliance's callous cuts to services and Council Tax rises

The Liberal Democrats have announced their candidates for the Normanton and Sinfin wards.

Joe Naitta has been selected for Sinfin, and Abdul Majid for Normanton.

Cllr Hilary Jones, Leader of Derby Liberal Democrat Councillors said, "Our candidates in these wards are first rate and they are working hard to win. Normanton and Sinfin have traditionally been strongly Labour but the responses we have been getting in these wards have been fantastic.

"People in former Labour heartlands are angry about Labour's callous cuts. Traditional Labour voters find it simply astonishing that Labour are in alliance with the Conservatives. People remember 18 years of hardship of Tory rule, and how they decimated our manufacturing industry."

The Lib Dems finished second to Labour in both Normanton and Sinfin at the last council elections.
