Campaign to save Care Home goes on

Local Liberal Democrats are fighting the Labour Council's plans to close a popular local care home
Liberal Democrat Councillors are challenging a decision to close a popular Derby Care Home.
This evening Derby Council's Labour led Cabinet voted to close Bramblebrook Care Home. This was in spite of massive opposition from residents and local people.
Liberal Democrat Spokesperson Cllr Les Allen said "Liberal Democrat Councillors are going to use our right to call in this decision. This means Labour Council bosses will have to try to justify their closure decision.
"It seems impossible to justify this closure. Local people are against it, more than 4,000 have signed a petition to save it.
"Residents are against the closure when questioned they were virtually unanimous in wanting to save the Home.
"A Council Scrutiny Committee said that Bramblebrook should be saved.
"At the last Council meeting Derby Council passed an amendment to keep the Home open.*
"Bramblebrook is needed. Derby already has hardly any unoccupied residential care beds. Bramblebrook House has just had new windows installed, is in good condition and meets all the necessary standards. There is no need to close it.
"Liberal Democrat Councillors will be using the call-in to challenge this ill-thought out and damaging decision. Bramblebrook is needed and Liberal Democrats will continue to campaign with local people to save it."
