Liberal Democrats in Derby's Blagreaves Ward have chosen campaigner Joe Naitta to be their candidate for May's local elections.
Joe Naitta is a member of the Blagreaves Ward Liberal Democrat Focus Team and has helped in many local campaigns, particularly the fight to save Gayton School Swimming Pool.
After his selection Joe Naitta stated "I have been working closely with Blagreaves Ward Liberal Democrat Councillors Ruth Skelton and Bob Troup for many months.
"We have been in the thick of the fight to save Gayton School Swimming Pool from Labour and Conservative Council bosses who had voted to demolish it.
"More Liberal Democrats on Derby Council in May will mean more Councillors standing up for local people against the Council Tax rises and cuts to facilities that we have seen under Labour and Tory rule."
Blagreaves Ward Lib Dem Councillor Ruth Skelton said "Joe has been a really effective campaigner for people in Blagreaves Ward. He has devoted huge amounts of time and energy to the campaign to save Gayton School Swimming Pool.
"He would make a first-class Councillor for the people of Blagreaves Ward".
