Lucy Care and the Lib Dems are campaigning against government cuts to our NHS
Stop cuts to our hospital is the message that Derby's Liberal Democrat councillors will be delivering at Wednesday's full council meeting.
The Lib Dems have put down a motion calling for the government to support our hospital.
Lib Dem parliamentary campaigner Lucy Care is proposing the motion. She hit out at the proposed cuts "Our local hospitals have been excellent at meeting government targets, thanks to hard work from staff across the whole range of jobs.
"Now these same staff are facing pay cuts. Some staff could lose their jobs. Many are likely to be down-graded. There are likely to be changes to medical procedures, to reduce costs. These cuts must stop.
"This is not good for patients or staff in Derby. The government should acknowledge that Derby has a good Hospital Trust, and give it the funding it needs to provide the excellent services people in this area deserve.
"The Lib Dems have been running a campaign on our health services, asking for people opinions in a survey and campaigning against NHS cuts for several months. As part of this campaign we hope the Council will pass our motion.
"The council needs to show that it supports our NHS staff. We need to make it plain to the government that we oppose the cuts that would harm our health services."
